Background, Landscape & Habitat
ECO|RESTORE recently restored a previously neglected and non-compliant permittee-responsible mitigation area in Moss Point, Mississippi. The site is located approximately two river miles upstream of the Pascagoula River. Various water bodies found throughout the site include the Escatawpa River, Rhodes Lake, Williams Lake and several unnamed tributary streams and creeks which feed into the Escatawpa River.
Restoration Activities
– 20-person crew mobilized to accelerate completion of restoration activities, taking advantage of narrow windows of favorable climate conditions and keeping E|R’s client on schedule for timely regulatory compliance.
– Numerous exotic and invasive species cleared and overgrown vegetation removed.
– More than 30,000 trees planted achieve Corps-approved performance standards and success criteria.
– 15 different bottomland hardwood species used to restore natural diversity and target densities.
